Time Speaker/Title
9:30 Joint Session 1 [Joint session with PAPOC]

Invited Talk. Brad King, Scality.

Byzantine, human and ordinary faults: learnings from multi-petabyte real-world distributed storage systems.

Scality now has a number of large distributed systems in production around the world with several years of experience. A brief overview of the design of our systems and example deployments will be given. A number of the outcomes of different expected and unexpected failures will be presented. As the scale and complexity of such systems increase, so do the possibilities of complex failures. Learnings and thoughts about the realities of operating successfully at scale will be discussed.
